How to Utilize a Forklift
Forklifts are material handling equipment which can move cargo. usually, these equipment are utilized in some industries to move heavy supplies in a wide variety of environments such as warehouses, airports and supply companies. Any individual operating a lift truck has to be trained to cautiously use the equipment. It is vital to be completely aware of one's surroundings when driving a forklift. Lift trucks are designed to run on propane, gasoline, diesel or batteries. Standard forklifts are common in a wide range of commercial applications and are not difficult to operate with correct training. The following steps outline the fundamentals of operating a lift truck:

1 Get familiar with all the levers that are utilized to transport and maneuver the load from location to another location. The levers can be found to the right of the steering wheel.
2 The first lever could move the tines down and up. Pushing the lever away from your body moves them down and pulling the lever towards you moves the tines up. Forks must be kept close to the ground except when loading or unloading.
3 The two other levers work to control the tines movement right and left and to control the blades tilt. The tines are designed to tilt between 15 and 30 degrees. It is better that you practice prior to picking up a load. Using the second lever, pull it towards your body to tilt the blades back, and push it away from you to tilt the tines forward.
4 Lever number 4 is used to control the forks side to side movement from left to right. Simply move the lever towards where you want the forks to move: right in order to move the forks right and left in order to move the blades left.
5 Carefully approach the cargo. Lower the forks and carefully drive forward until the blades slide under the load. Next lift the blades several centimeters by pulling the lever towards you. If the cargo is top-heavy, you must tilt the blades backwards a small amount for balance.
6 Safe driving rules consist of taking corners slowly and honking to warn pedestrians or other personnel that the forklift is approaching. Approach the place where you will be working carefully. Manipulate the levers to maneuver the load to where it is going. When the cargo is placed, reverse gears and cautiously back away.
7 Lift trucks stop pretty much the same way as other vehicles. The brake is located to the accelerator's left side. When stopped, shift the gear into "park."
