JLG Telehandlers British Columbia
John L. Grove decided to retire after spending numerous years working together with his brother to build their crane construction business into a global leader. John as well as his wife Cora celebrated their retirement by going on a cross-country trip utilizing their recreational vehicle. After that particular trip, JLG Industries, Inc. emerged and became the global leading maker of mobile aerial work platforms and specialized material handling equipment.
John spent much of the time during the R.V. journey talking to prior business associates that the Groves were visiting on their trip. While they visited the Hoover Dam, sadly, 2 workers were accidentally electrocuted on scaffolding. Through subsequent conversations, John discovered a big untapped market for a equipment which can quickly and safely raise people into the air in order to perform maintenance and construction work.
When John and his wife returned from the trip, John decided to take action. He and two close friends began a partnership and after that purchased a small metal fabrication business in McConnellsburg, Pennsylvania. During 1970, with an initial group of 20 staff, the trio built and sold the very first JLG aerial work platform. Numerous components of the basic design elements of that first machinery are still being incorporated into the current machinery
