Counterbalance Forklift Training Courses
Anybody who utilizes a counterbalanced lift truck must receive training, based on Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations. Training includes a combination of classroom training and hands-on driver training. Refresher training is needed periodically in order to keep driver skills up to date. OSHA does not specify a minimum time requirement for either the classroom or hands-on training.

Counterbalanced Forklifts
The counterbalance forklift could balance its load thanks to a counterbalance built into the truck. Forks could move down and up parallel to the body of the truck. The blades do not rotate. Drivers who use counterbalanced lift trucks should receive training on the particular trucks they would be driving and in the same workplace environment.

Classroom Training
The forklift driver will be taught the basics of the model of lift truck they would be utilizing in classroom training. They will learn info regarding the lift trucks particular things like height, weight and load capacity. The operator would learn the basics of charging or fueling the lift truck, depending on whether the engine is gas-powered or battery-powered. Safety measures pertaining to the particular forklift, such as how to walk safely around the forklift, will be included.

Supervised Driving
Driver training will be supervised to ensure that the driver would know how to correctly utilize the counterbalance lift truck. This practical training course would happen in the same type of setting in which the driver will be working. The operator would train with the same kinds of surrounding buildings and other structures on the same kind of terrain, as well as similar pedestrian and vehicular traffic.

Refresher Training
Although OSHA requires regular refresher training for counterbalanced forklift operators, there are no specifications which determine the frequency of refresher training or its contents. Then again, for regular operators, refresher training programs has to comprise classroom-style training.
