Change an LPG Cylinder
Forklifts are powered by various sources. They could run from LP gas or liquid propane, gasoline, battery or diesel. LP is a clean burning fuel ideal for various uses. There are several facilities which have large liquid propane supplies on site. This allows forklifts to be refueled anytime they require. In other places, the facility would have spare LP cylinders that could be changed out when the machine has to be refueled.
In order to avoid possible serious injury, certain safety measures should be taken when changing out an LP cylinder. Like for instance: be sure to wear the correct safety equipment like heavy gloves, goggles or safety glasses. Turn off the forklift ignition prior to changing out the tank. Next, close the cylinder valve by turning it until it is securely closed. Use your hand to loosen the hose connection to the tank. Remember that it would turn in the opposite direction of a normal connection and never use any type of wrench or a metal tool on these connections. They are meant to be tightened only by using the hand.
