Forklift Tire Specs
Forklifts have been an essential tool within commercial businesses and industry since 1917. During its history the forklift has changed through different kinds, from a tractor with a platform attachment to a specialized high-tech equipment. Forklift tires have also changed into particular tires, with different types designed to suit specific functions.
Cushion (Solid) Tires
A cushion tire is made of solid polyurethane or rubber and is best for indoor work on smooth surfaces. The tread of a cushion tire is bonded or pressed onto the steel ring of the tire. Cushion tires are rated ease of steering and for various load capacities. Cushion tires are commonly used in warehouse settings.
Pneumatic Tires
Pneumatic forklift tires are filled with air or foam. They are offered in two kinds: radial or bias. Depending on the use, they come with various sidewall protection, tread depths and weight. Pneumatic forklift tires that are filled with foam are less prone to punctures and maintain constant pressures. Pneumatic tires are commonly used outdoors on surfaces that are uneven and rough.
Pneumatic Shaped Solid/Solid Pneumatic
Solid Pneumatic Hybrid tires combine the puncture resistance of a solid tire with the comfortable ride of a pneumatic tire. They are a great alternative to the outdoor pneumatic tire.
Large Rubber and Flotation Tires
Large rubber tires, that could be pneumatic, foam or solid, are used on wheel loader forklifts. These tires are suitable for transporting and loading heavy items into processing equipment or onto trucks. Large flotation pneumatic tires are suited for masted rough terrain forklifts usually utilized at lumberyards, construction sites and automobile recyclers.
